I'm a Texas-based wedding photographer focused on capturing the elegant details and authentic emotions of Southern love stories.
I am always SO honored when I’m asked to photograph a proposal. It really is such a sweet and special time in a couples relationship and I LOVE getting to be a part of it! Blake + Amanda’s proposal was no different! I met up with Blake around 30 minutes before he ‘popped the question’ to chat for a few minutes and scope out Brenner’s on the Bayou. If you’ve never been to Brenner’s on the Bayou, do yourself a favor and go! They have live music, a bar out back and a steakhouse in the front, not to mention it has beautiful landscaping.
Sarah, Amanda’s best friend, was honestly the real MVP of the whole weekend. She helped keep Amanda in the dark and helped coordinate the whole thing. When Amanda arrived, Blake was anxiously waiting for her near the gazebo. You can definitely tell she was surprised when she began walking towards him. eek. I literally love this moment. 🙂 They walked together to the gazebo where Blake officially asked Amanda to marry him. It was so incredibly sweet and such a beautiful moment.
But if I’m being honest, my favorite memory/moment from the proposal was watching their family and friends watch them get engaged. If you look close enough, in a few of the photos you can see them watching through the windows on the second floor of the restaurant. Her dad’s reaction in the first photo fills my heart with so much joy! (He’s standing all the way to the right with the biggest smile on his face watching his daughter walk to the man of her dreams!)
After the proposal and a mini engagement session it was time to join the rest of their family and friends for one of the sweetest get togethers I’ve had the pleasure of being a part of. Friends and family from all over the country came in to witness their engagement. As the evening went on, Amanda’s dad Jim, gave the sweetest speech and toast. You can tell he is truly proud of Amanda and that she chose Blake to be her future husband. After Jim gave his speech/toast, other family members chimed in with their well wishes for Blake and Amanda. I don’t tear up too often but I definitely got a smidgen misty eyed listening to the love being shared in the room.
I’m so happy I was able to be part of this new season of life for Blake and Amanda and can’t wait to see their love grow in the years to come! Congratulations you guys!!
Fun Facts from the Proposal!
Everyone’s phones were ‘broken’.
Blake is a nurse and doesn’t wear dress clothes regularly so he made sure to intentionally wear his clothes and leave them strewn about their house to throw her off.
Blake bought brand new dress clothes just for the occasion so it looked like it wasn’t happening this weekend.
Her ring is custom made from the island of St. Thomas (CHECK IT OUT, IT’S GORGEOUS!)
