It’s been about 6 weeks since I went to San Diego for the Light + Dark Workshop and I’m finally getting around to looking through all of the pictures and reminiscing on my experience. First off as a mom of two littles, it was honestly such a nice little break to go and do something for myself and explore PLUS having the opportunity to use my photography skills in a new location. Winning on multiple levels. 🙂
My biggest take away from my trip is that I need to be less ‘frugal’. 6AM flights are cheap for a reason, it’s REALLLY early in the morning. I’m a pretty good morning person but when I have to wake up at 2:30AM to make it to Houston to the airport on time, not my wisest decision. I did the same thing coming home too. Oh well. Live and ya learn. Or something like that.
Anyways, I met up with John (one of the faces behind Light + Dark) and Kaylee and we hung out and explored a little. One of my favorite places was the Children’s Pool at La Jolla. There were sea lions everywhere. You could get up close and personal (without touching) and it was so cool! But my most favorite part of the whole trip…putting my toes in the sand. I LOVE the ocean. I love the sound of the waves, the wind on the water, and the smell of the salty air. However, I don’t think I could ever go on a cruise because I’m TERRIFIED of the ocean at the exact same time. Mostly open water.
I guess I like the beach, not the ocean? 🙂
We spent the next day learning all about running a photography business and then we got to meet up at the beach for a styled engagement session! I’ve always wanted to do a beach engagement session but you know…Texas. I’m definitely going to try and get in a Galveston Beach Session soon though. Sooooo any of you engaged couples want to do an engagement session at the beach. Hit. Me. Up. 🙂
On a side note, I realized I LOVE the Spanish influence of San Diego. I took a stroll through Old Town and fell in love with the Spanish architecture, cacti, and street tacos. Got to have my tacos whenever possible!
